Should you DYI your email marketing or Hire a freelancer?
Pros and cost of each to help you decide
So you’ve decided that email marketing is something your business needs, but should you do it yourself or should you hire someone to help you do it?
Let’s make a list of the pros and cons.
Doing email marketing by yourself
Pros:
You learn everything about the process and gain new skills
You’ll have full control over what you do, how you do it and when you do it
Saves you time and money to hire someone
Cons:
Takes your time away from what you do best and focusing on growing your business since you’ll have to take time to figure things out for yourself
With time, email marketing can lose priority and focus as other priorities take over and you’ll end up dismissing it
Don’t have someone at hand to ask questions when faced with challenges
Hiring an email marketing freelancer
(like me 👋)
Pros:
Someone skilled and experienced is fully responsible for the agreed deliverables and set objectives, you don’t need to worry
The freelancer will keep on top of things, remind you, advise you and do things timely
The freelancer will recommend improvements to help you make the most of email for your business
They’ll share reports and updates on how things are going, analyse the data and adjust according to your goals
Cons:
You will need to brief the email freelancer and answer a ton of questions so that they have the information they need to run the emails on your behalf
You’ll have to pay them in advance, that’s just good business-manship
You will have to let go of control and not micro-manage the freelancer
